Tailor made solutions
Hytech develops and delivers tailor-made reels and umbilicals for demanding operational environments, with a focus on high reliability, safety and efficiency. From concept and engineering to production and lifetime service, we design systems that withstand harsh conditions on land and at sea.
Our solutions combine advanced hydraulic and pneumatic drive systems, automatic and manual control functions, as well as rigid construction according to industry standards such as NORSOK, DNV, ATEX and others.
Umbilical Reel
Hytech’s Umbilical Reel is designed to handle up to 1300 m of subsea umbilical with a diameter of 56 mm, and is powered by an air-driven HPU with two separate motor/pumps.
Both pumps can be used together or separately — in single-pump mode, the spooling speed is halved, while the pulling force is maintained.
The frame is made of heavy-duty carbon steel, with corrosion protection according to NORSOK M-501S.1, and with a braking system, internal seawater hydraulic cooler and operating temperature from −10°C to +45°C.
Two-speed hydraulic motor provides a maximum operating speed of 24 m/min at 1.25 tons or 12 m/min at 2.5 tons (first layer). The reel has an automatic spool arm that corrects misalignment via valve control, with both local and remote control panels for operation and safety.
Kill Hose Reel
Hytech’s Kill Hose Reel is designed for fast response and reliable control of flammable liquids, ensuring safe blocking (“kill”) in emergencies. The reel combines robust construction with precise control mechanisms so that maneuvering and positioning of the hose can be performed safely and efficiently, even in demanding conditions at sea.
Umbilical Reel – Abrassive Cutting System
This variant of our Umbilical Reels is adapted for systems with abrasion and is used in cutting operations where the umbilical must withstand high wear and aggressive environments. With reinforced materials, special treatments and precise spooling systems, it provides both long life and stable operation under extreme conditions.
Overhaul, Guiding & Damping Winch System
Our Overhaul Guiding & Damping Winch System is designed to handle loads with precision and calmness, with built-in guidance and damping to minimize shock, vibration and turbulence in wires, cables or umbilicals. The system enables controlled reeling and unrolling – as well as maintenance and inspection – with an emphasis on safety and reliability.
ROV – Umbilical Reel
The ROV-Umbilical Reel from Hytech is specially adapted for remotely operated underwater units, with a focus on smooth reeling/retraction and control under varying loads and values for depth, pressure and corrosion. Designed to meet the precise requirements of the ROV operator—including accurate reeling, adaptation to underwater conditions and robust, maintenance-friendly construction.
